Name: Nat
Weight (as of July 2010): 25 lbs
We think Nat is a miniature Shar Pei and Italian Greyhound mix ... but who knows. Nat is cute and weighs only 25 pounds. Nat has tons of energy and loves to play with Chili and Nutty ... who'd have thought?! The smallest and the largest. He is current on all his puppy shots, rabies vaccination and neutered. Nat is a baby that wants to play and have as much attention as your family can give.
This family of mom and babies had a rough start. They were dumped and left to fend for themselves. They were very timid and untrusting, with good reason. Nat has made the largest social advance ... he also wants to be the alpha with his littermates. Sorry, that's my job! Nat needs a home where he can grow with confidence. Can you offer
the security that Nat needs?

Name: Teaser (left) and Bruiser (right)
Est. DOB: November 29, 2009
Weight: Teaser - 20 lbs, Bruiser - 28 lbs
Caesar was one of a litter of seven dropped in a cul-de-sac and abandoned. He and all his littermates had demodex mange. We have been treating for several weeks. Now that Caesar is feeling better, he romps and plays with his littermates ... Bruiser and Nat. He loves to grab a ball or Nylabone and run in front of his littermates and tease. Teaser's weight as of July 1, 2010 is 20 lbs. Teaser is the lover of the three. He jumps in my arms and gives hugs.
These babies were all Gina's pups (found on Adoptions 2010), an Italian Greyhound mix. We think Nat, Teaser and Bruiser may have had a miniature Shar Pei dad. The boys are all looking for a loving furever home. They were unattended for so long that they are cautiously fearful of people. With lots of hugs, they are coming to me. You too, can help them conquer their fear of humans.
As stated, all three
boys are timid, especially with men. We are doing some social rehab this month. They have come a long way from being "dumped" in a front yard and left with their mom to fend for themselves. Are you the exceptional family that will love and help Teaser and/or his brother to grow physically and socially? They're waiting for you.

Name: Andy (left) and Buster (right)
DOB: July 2009
Weight: TBD
Andy and Buster came to us through a neighbor who needed to move and could no longer keep his pets. These boys are little Tazmanian Devils. They chase each other and have a ball. Andy and Buster seem to be Chow Chow and Shetland Collie (Sheltie). Their DOB is July '09. both boys are current with their shots and have been neutered. Since the heat is slowly sliding into SC, these boys are headed for the groomer to have their GI Joe haircuts for the summer. I would hope a Northern family would consider adopting the two boys ... transportation can be arranged after your application is submitted and accepted.

Name: Chili (left) and Nutmeg (right)
DOB: July 24, 2009
Weight: 28-34 lbs
1) Chili pepper is a lovable male, possibly a Dutch Shepherd Dog mix. Chili places both paws around your neck for "hugs."
2) Nutmeg is a small little girl that is very intelligent and can outrun the entire group. Thrives on giving kisses and pleasing.
They currently are approximately 28-34 pounds, current on all shots and have been spay/neutered. All are on heartworm protection. They are crate trained and 80% housebroken ... sometimes Chili can't hold it any longer ... and Nutty girl can still outrun him! Chili has his own personality and loves to play with toys.

Name: Hershey
DOB: January 2009
Weight: 50 lbs.
Hershey is a 13-month old, black and a little white, neutered pit/lab mix. He is approximately 50 lbs. He is very protective of his food and dog biscuits/toys. Hershey is the sweetest dog, but he does require a lot of attention and is very high energy. He would work best in a home where he was the only pet or in a home where the owners had the extra time to spend with acclimating him and any other pets.
Hershey has had basic dog training and does really well on a leash. He is a jumper, so a higher split rail fence or privacy fence would work best. He also is a digger. He is current on all shots and vaccination records are available. Owner hasjust gotten in over her head having two dogs and really needs to find Hershey a foster or permanent home where he can get the attention and care he needs. If you or someone you know can give Hershey a home, contact Jennifer at (704) 254-4841 or e-mail her at jennifer.taylor@goodrich.com.

Name: Romeo
Estimated DOB: June, 2009
Weight: TBD
Romeo is a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. We estimate his dob as June of 2009. This young boy was in the neighborhood due to a female in "heat" but his desire for warmth and food were more than his desire to procreate.
Romeo has been neutered and updated on his shots. He tested negative for heartworm and is now on preventative. Romeo is calm, submissive and tender. He obviously tried to fight for the heart of the young girl because there are numerous scars on his head but that has not changed the heart of this boy. He is happy to come when called and loves affection.
Romeo was not happy in a crate when he first came here. He has since been integrated with the household brood and now is part of a pack of 15, and everyone is respectful. He is a very good boy, and his true personality would shine in an environment of his own. He has never had an accident or chewed or destroyed anything. He is a cuddler. Anytime I get a seat on the couch ... space is usually taken ... he is right there with his head in my lap. He has learned basic "sit," "stay" commands
quickly. Who would have thought this "Lion hunting dog" would be such a pussycat!?? If you are looking for a dog to love you
(not lick you) to death, he's your boy.

Name: Radar
Radar was surrendered by a young couple in SC who explained they found him along the highway. Radar is all about play. He plays with the puppies and the larger dogs. We think Radar is a "chiweenie" which is Dachshund and Chihuahua ... whatever the breed this little boy has a big attitude in a small body. Very well behaved. Has been easily crate trained, walks well on a lead and house trained. Radar is up tp date with his shots and has been neutered.

Name: Auggie
DOB: March-2005
Auggie is a neutered male. Auggie looks to be a German Shepherd mix. He came to us through a mutual friend working at a boarding kennel. Auggie had been left behind. His abandonment issues had turned to separation anxiety with a prospective owner who was away 12 hrs a day. While Auggie has been with us, he had shown some domination upon first returning that was quickly dismissed. The boy was very insecure but has calmed into the routine and the traffic of people (family) coming and going. Auggie still needs supervision with my male dogs to make sure we don't have a contest. Auggie would be a wonderful "only child" (dog) in an active person's home. He loves to jog and long walks. He has had obedience training so "sit, stay, and down" are not foreign to Auggie Dog. Can you offer a secure loving home to build this boy's self esteem and give him his portion of the couch?

Name: Omega
Estimated DOB: September-2007
Weight: 40lbs
Omma has turned from shy to playful and from scrawny to muscular now that she is being fed a proper diet. The only thing missing in Omma's life is a forever home. She is short in stature but tall on affection. Omma was born to play with people or an other dog that is secure otherwise she will turn into the alpha and harm the submissive. Omma would be great with a starting family or an active retired couple. She likes to ride in the car and has been leash trained. She had been crate trained and housebroken but currently has been kennelled (because there is already 11 in the house.) Omma is current on vaccinations and has been spayed and looking for a forever loving home. Is there room in your home and your heart for a young spirited dog that will love you back ten-fold?

Name: Rocky
Estimated Date of Birth: TBD
Weight: TBD
Rocky was found along the roadside in Fairfield county SC in Nov '07 and was probably 5-6 months old. As winter arrived, he must have burrowed himself somewhere safe away from the coyotes. In Jan of '08 he appeared again. At this time, hubby and I started bringing bowls of food and water to him. Soon, a friend showed up as well. His friend is Scooby Doo. The 2 boys obviously had a couple conflicts as to who was going to eat first or the most because there are a couple scars on their noses. The boys became so accustomed to me feeding them at the same time each day that they would be waiting at the STOP sign as if I were public transit. Eventually, they came to me and jumped in and out of the van. Then came the day they did not get out and went straight to the vet to be examined and neutered. They have been with us since Feb '08 and are still best buds. Rocky seems to be a miniature Rottweiler. He has the stocky Rottie body and face but the disposition of a Black Lab...very gentle and loving. Can you find a place at the foot of your bed for a boy who had fallen on hard times. He is more hugger than protector.

Name: Butchie
Estimated Date of Birth: 2/2006
Weight: 65lbs
Butchie is a handsome young male lab mix that was found along the roadside by Lake Wateree. At the time, he was too frightened to come to us. After being outside for a week through a blustery rain storm, he had managed to find his way to the marina where sympathetic customers had begun to feed him. This time he came directly to us as if to say "What took you so long!" After chowing down once again, he settled into the house without an incident. Being young, he wanted to socialize with all our dogs but the "head of the brood" said no, not yet. Slowly he was indoctrinated to several other dogs and again, no incident. Butchie has puppy energy. He runs, jumps and loves to turn backwards in your arms for affection. He is intelligent, friendly and loyal. Butchie has been neutered, vaccinated, and on Interceptor since testing was negative for heartworms. Leash training was a breeze and housebreaking an overnight success.

Name: Mae
Estimated DOB: Jan- 2005
Current weight: 43 lbs.
Mae was found with her two abandoned pups (the third had been killed on the road.) She was gaunt and had given all her nourishment to the babies. After evicting all her freeloading parasites (inside and out) she has become a healthy active young girl with a beautiful coat. The picture does not do her justice since she usually runs into the
water to play. Mae is a young mom and has puppy energy and excitement. She loves to play in the lake. She is current on vaccinations and has been spayed. She is leash trained and crate trained without an incident. She is
currently kenneled.

Name: Lady
DOB: October 30, 1999
Current weight: 60 lbs.
Lady is an AKC registered pedigree German Shepherd Dog with her full title being "Lady of the Lake."
Lady's parents were an elderly couple who were in need of living closer to their doctors and hence, moved from their home at Lake Wateree to an aartment in Columbia, SC. Since Lady is a large dog, it was only fair to find a new home for her.
One home was perfect with a fenced-in yard and a large log cabin. Lady got along well with their miniature dachshunds, but then the lady of the house took ill ... open heart surgery, etc Again, Lady needed a place to call home. She is back with us and the brood living here.
Lady is currently underweight around 60 pounds, but that will not be a problem. She is heartworm negative, spayed, and current on her vaccines. Lady loves the comforts of home and has a large flannel comforter folded in quarters that is her bed. Housetrained, leash trained and a very loving dog. Getting up in years ... she needs a home to live comfortably in her retirement years. Not that she is totally retired! Lady is the first to bark when a stranger or unusual sound is heard ... still a good "watchdog." Can you offer the "retirement community" that Lady needs in order to thrive?
Lady has puppy energy without the stamina. This spry senior loves to tease the dogs in the kennel by running in front of the kennel barking. She thinks she is untouchable. Too cute.
Lady is current on her vaccinations and on heartworm preventative.
